What are leveling clips?

Levelling clips are innovative tools in the tile industry that are used to eliminate height differences between adjacent tiles and ensure an even joint width. These clips facilitate the installation process by ensuring that all tiles are laid at a consistent level, which contributes to the aesthetics and durability of the tiling. They are particularly useful when laying large format tiles and are indispensable for both DIYers and professional tilers who strive for a flawless end result.

How do tile leveling clips work?

Tile leveling clips are designed to ensure a uniform and level tile surface during the installation process. They are used in conjunction with wedges and work by being placed under the edges of adjacent tiles before the tile adhesive has set. After the tiles are in place, a wedge is pushed through the opening of the clip, leveling the tiles and eliminating any air bubbles or bumps under the tiles. After the adhesive has set, the protruding parts of the clip are removed, leaving a perfectly level tile surface.

How many leveling clips do I need?

The number of leveling clips you need depends on the size of your tiles and the total area to be tiled. A good rule of thumb is to use one clip for every 8 to 12 inches along the edge of each tile. For example, for 24x24 inch tiles, you might use about 8-12 clips per tile. For accurate calculations, divide the total length of all joints by the distance at which you place the clips. Always make sure to purchase extra clips in case of breakage or cutting waste.
